LIGHTNING PROTECTION SURVEYS AND RISK ASSESSMENTS

The purpose of an external lightning protection system (LPS) is to protect important structures against direct lightning strike impacts thus preventing property damages, injuries and system downtime.

At BCESERV Ltd we can conduct surveys and risk assessments, to ensure that your assets are being adequately protected.

The design of an LPS system should be in compliance with the European and International series of Standards EN IEC 62305 and EN IEC 61643. Hence, in a lightning protection survey, the main parameters taken into account by the European and International Standard EN IEC 62305-2:2006 are:

  • the dimension of the structure

  • its geographical location

  • its use

  • its contents

  • other additional required aspects

According to these parameters, we can determine the level of protection needed by an LPS.

BCESERV Ltd offers the service of conducting risk assessments for both new premises without any protection as well as for properties with existing lightning protection systems. After the risk assessment, the qualified electrical engineer will issue an LPS proposal for new premises or advise whether any modifications are required to the existing LPS in order to keep it according to standard.
